Philosophy

Learning is a three-part equation with teachers, parents and students sharing the responsibility equally. Faculty members strive to be sensitive to the strengths and weaknesses of their students and make it a priority to communicate frequently with parents or guardians. In addition to monitoring homework and other class assignments, parents are asked to serve on committees, chaperone field trips, assist with school fund-raising efforts and participate in school “clean-up” days.

Upon enrollment, each family becomes a voting member of New Horizons Elementary School, Inc., a non-profit organization. The governing body for the organization is a board of directors made up of parents and faculty members. Day-to-day operations, as well as instructional, curricular and academic decisions are the responsibility of the professional staff. Faculty members are degreed and certified educators. Many hold advanced degrees and continue to enrich their professional credentials.
